We wholeheartedly embrace the importance of play and loving attention
At Little Green House we create a loving atmosphere in which even the smallest ones feel appreciated, secure and noticed. In our houses in Gland, Morges and Versoix we want to give children between 3 months and 4 years a safe and happy environment where they can grow in confidence and independence. Through play and our indoors and outdoors activities, we help them to be healthy, stay safe, and discover the world while enjoying themselves.
At Little Green House learning is a continuous process of making sense through direct experience. One experience builds on another, and competence and ability develop step by step. The activities we propose to the children are carefully selected according to their age and stage, and build on already acquired skills. This way, learning new skills is a rewarding and fun activity, as the children can be proud on what they have already learnt to do and are stimulated to explore new skills.
Our children are supported to develop their personal talents rather than trying to adhere to a strict schedule producing presentable outcomes. By playing and by experience, we learn about our emotions, our relations, our impact on the world and foster the children’s creativity and autonomy. We allow ourselves to be surprised by our scientific experiments, and we let our curiosity run free when we explore the world around us. Our most important pedagogical instruments are close observation and undivided, loving attention. These guide us in everything we do.
No matter the age of the child, the framework for our approach to children and our activities is based in our philosophy and our concept of Woods and Wellbeing, Living Languages and a Partnership with Parents, which all help us make Little Green House a place where little and grown-up people feel free to be who they are and to become who they want to be.
